Watermelon Nails
Hello again, for this step by step tutorial I was inspired by my favorite fruit, the watermelon. So I thought I would show you how to do them to get ready for the summer.
For this design you will need 3 to 4 different nail polishes a nail striper or a nail art pen and a dotting tool.
I used -
To Begin this Design you are going to want to paint your nails with two coats of Essie's Watermelon. Once the two coats are dry its time for the next step.
You are going to want to take Barry M's Spring Green and using the brush it come with you are going to want to paint the tip (See picture 1.) Use the width of the brush as a guide to how wide the green section is, however the length of your nail will ultimately determine how much you paint on. You may have to apply two coats of the green polish to achieve an opaque look.

- Barry M - Black

- Barry M nail art pen in White (A white nail polish works aswell)

You are going to want to make this line about a third of the thickness of the green section, again applying two coats to ensure the pink or green does not show through.
The last step to this design is to paint on the watermelon seeds, to do this you are going to want to use your dotting tool and dip in into the black polish. To achieve a more seedlike look you are going to dot the black polish close to the white strip and then gently pull toward the cuticle (See picture 3.)this will help to create more of a point.
There you go, a lovely summer nail polish design that will get you compliments wherever you go. I would also love to see your recreations so share them with me using the hashtag #diynailart.

Glitter Butterfly Wing Nail Tutorial
Hello fellow nail art addicts! I thought it was time to share my passion with others, I hope these step by step tutorials offer you inspiration or just help you to recreate the look.
The first design I'm going to show you is the Glitter Butterfly Wing.
For this design you will need 6 to 7 different nail polishes a nail striper and a dotting tool.
I used -
To Begin this design you will need to paint each of your nails two coats of different colours. You can pick what colours you want to use, you don't have to use the same ones I did.
The next thing you want you do is fill in the edge of the nail with the black nail varnish (See picture 3.)For this step you can use a dotting tool, nail striper or just use the brush from the bottle, you can use whichever you are most comfortable with.
After the black polish had dried you are going to want to place a small amount of white polish on a scrap piece of paper so you can dip the dotting tool into it. Get a small amount on the dotting tool and dot it on randomly over the black polish (See picture 4.) It doesn't matter if the dots aren't the same size as this adds to the effect. Finally you are going to want to paint a glitter top coat over the design, this helps the design last longer and gives it a bit of sparkle.
Hope you found this step by step helpful, look out for more coming soon.
The first design I'm going to show you is the Glitter Butterfly Wing.
For this design you will need 6 to 7 different nail polishes a nail striper and a dotting tool.
I used -
- Mua - Bold Blue
- Barry M - Mint Green
- Barry M - Black
- Barry M - White
- Essie - Lilacaism
- Rimmel London - Strawberry Fizz
- Calvin Klein - Hallucinate (Not Photographed)
To Begin this design you will need to paint each of your nails two coats of different colours. You can pick what colours you want to use, you don't have to use the same ones I did.
When the two coats of each colour has completely dried you are going to want to start the actual design of the wing. To do so you're going to want to coat a nail striper in black nail varnish and paint on a small curve from the cuticle to about half way down your nail, you are also going to want to paint on another 4 curved lines going diagonally across your nail. (See picture 1.)
Once that step has been completed you are going to want to use a small dotting tool to paint on curved lines to connect each section (See picture 2.) You can also use a striper to do this step however I find you have more control using a dotting tool, feel
free to do whatever is
easier for you.
